Reverse the Clock

We are All Aging All the Time!

Whether you are a grandmother on the go, a busy business woman, or a student struggling to finish that last semester, the clock is working against you. Stepping outside each day, you are exposed to accelerated aging factors, as well as when you flick the light switch and settle into bed each night. By implementing a few of these easy effective tips, you will have mother nature second-guessing the year!

Tip #1
While getting enough Sleep is imperative to overall well-being, the way in which you receive those 8 recommended hours may be causing some wrinkles!  While most individuals find comfort in sleeping on their side or stomach, this position causes what is known as "sleep crush," leading to and enhancing  the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Reverse the Clock!! Sleep On Your Back, so as not to destroy the collagen and elastin fibers in your skin. This position also prevents the stretching of your cheek and neck muscles, which later result in unsightly jowels.

Tip #2
Research has shown that those who participate in vigorous exercise 3 hours a week are biologically nine years younger than those who exercised fewer than fifteen minutes a week.  9 YEARS!  What then constitutes as vigorous exercise?  According to experts any activity which raises your heart rate between 130 and 157 beats per minute is considered vigorous. By performing a 30-minute routine six times a week, you will be adding years to your life. Even completing the exercise regimen only three times each week will reduce our biological age by 4 Years!!

Also, doing weighted exercises in addition to taking calcium and magnesium daily strengthens bones and prevents osteoporosis. Get Moving!!!

Tip #3
De-stress & Indulge. This may seem an unlikely tip in how to reverse the biological clock, but notice I did not preface the one word tip with Over. Indulging in certain ways helps reduce stress, and we all know stress can wreak havoc on not only your appearance, but your health as well. By participating in various breathing methods, or exercising we can reduce and eliminate the under-eye circles, limp hair, and fine lines that are brought on by stress.  After calming yourself with nice evening walk, unwind with a glass of red wine.
Benefits of drinking one to two glasses of red wine daily include: greater bone density, increased antioxidant consumption (which results in decreased tumor development), and an 80% lower risk of developing Alzheimer's disease.
Some Varieties to Look For:
-Cabernet
-Pinot Noir
-Merlot
-Syrah

Tip #4
Eating healthy plays an enormous role in our well-being and how we age. No matter how healthy and mindful we are regarding what we consume, we can never gain all the vital nutrients our bodies need through eating alone. If nothing else, taking a daily multi-vitamin can boost health levels and lead to an overall younger appearance. Ingredients to look for
  • Folate
  • Magnesium
  • Iron
  • Omega-3 (Omega-6) Fatty Acids
  • Vitamin D3
  • Calcium Citrate
Also, divide it up! For best absorption, and to receive the most from your daily supplement, take half in the morning and half at night.
Remember, it is never too late to start changing your future. Research shows that it takes 21 days for something to become a habit! Start today, and by next month you will be looking and feeling younger!

Delish Dermatology

Cotton Candy! Cupcakes! Ice Cream! Oh My! While Summertime brings these tasty treats, indulgence comes with a price. Sugar consumption increases oil production which results in acne outbreaks. Flour and sugar, and other refined carbohydrates are actually proven to accelerate the aging process! Yikes! While abstaining from these seasonal delights may seem like a summer bummer, the compliments that will come with your newly glowing complexion will be well worth the self-control.

So what can you do to satisfy that sinful sweet tooth? With these sunny months come seasonal fruits and vegetables that can't be enjoyed all year long! In addition to their sweetness and hydration, the following foods provide you with wonderful antioxidants and skin enhancing nutrients.

The highest food source of antioxidants, BLUEBERRIES protect skin DNA damaging, in turn keeping skin looking younger longer! Also keep BLACKBERRIES and PRUNES as go-to grab-me snacks, as they also protect skin from free radicals!

PAPAYA contains a special enzyme that kills dead skin and cures skin impurities! This fruit contains heavy amount of Vitamin A, Vitamin, C, and Potassium. This miracle has also been proven to reduce premature signs of aging!

Incorporate MANGO into your diet as an afternoon snack in order to  regenerate skin cells and restore elasticity. This tropical fruit also aides in skin hydration, minimizing the appearance of fine lines.

ORANGES and APPLES  contain collagen, which slow the aging process. Like their citrus friend, the LEMON,  oranges also assist in clearing blemishes.

Regardless of the season, it is well known that water can do wonders for our skin. It is crucial, however that in the hot temperatures our skin and body stay hydrated. Remember, Skin is a Beautiful thing. Wear it Well.

Summer's Best Accessory

TODAY, June 20th, is the first official day of Summer 2012! For many this will be the start of strict diet regimens and grueling workouts to fit into that teeny-weeny bikini, and the wrapping up of Spring cleaning to make room for this season's brightly colored wardrobe. As the sun begins to shine and vacation itineraries are underway, even the most fabulous of Beach Bum Divas often neglects their best ensemble in its peak season...SKIN.

Our face is exposed each and every day, regardless of the temperature, but in this hot season out pour tank tops, short-shorts, and sundresses leaving our epidermis subject to burning and drying, resulting in lasting damage. Like most Summer-Lovers, observing the contrast of my bronzed decolletage against a cream lace camisole brings forth a thrill like no other. This Summer glow does not have to come with the cost of lasting damage and pre-mature aging, however. Rodan +Fields' Essential Sunscreen provides protection, while allowing us to relish in the warmth of summer.

If you are saying, "Well it's too late to worry now, the damage is done..." you are fortunately mistaken! The Reverse line does exactly what the name implies, reverses sun damage.

Do not Avoid Summer 2012! Embrace it with Rodan +Fields!!
